Oasis Community Learning

About Academies

The Government introduced the Academies programme to provide up to 200 schools in England and Wales over the next few years. Academies are new, all-ability schools aimed to challenge under-attainment and deliver a real improvement in educational standards. The Academies programme brings with it the reward of turning around the most challenging schools in the most challenging areas, creating new opportunities for students and new hope for communities.

Academies are publicly funded independent schools. The majority of funding for the new building and facilities comes direct from central government. The Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) fund the annual running costs of Academies via a grant to the Academies each academic year.

Oasis Community Learning, as sponsors, will raise some of the initial funding to build the Oasis Academies plus all the funding for community facilities.

Every Academy has a specialism. The specialisms for the Oasis Academies are as follows:

Enfield ~ Business & Enterprise
Immingham ~ Engineering
Wintringham ~ Sport & Health Bristol ~ Visual & Performing Arts
Brightstowe ~ Mathematics & ICT Lord's Hill ~ Arts with Business & Enterprise
Mayfield ~ Global Communication MediaCityUK ~ Media & ICT
Coulsdon ~ Science & Technology
