Oasis Academy Bristol mourns Principal, John Williams

Oasis Community Learning is sad to announce that John Williams (pictured), the Principal of Oasis Academy Bristol, who suffered a serious heart attack almost three weeks ago, has died at the age of just 40. He leaves behind a wife and three young children.

John Williams was one of the country’s youngest head teachers when appointed to Blake Valley Technology College School in Cannock three and a half years ago. Under John’s leadership Oasis Academy Bristol has made significant progress since its opening in September 2008. John was most recently due to oversee construction of the new Academy buildings after work commenced on site in January ahead of an anticipated September 2010 opening.

Steve Chalke, Founder and CEO of Oasis Community Learning said, “John had a huge and positive impact on everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by us all. We will be offering our love, care and support to his immediate family at this difficult time, as well as to the Academy family as a whole.”

Oasis Academy Bristol, under John William’s tenure, has developed a strong Leadership Team who will continue to ensure that the best care, attention and education is given to all our students and our wider community.  They will be led by Rebecca Clark, who has been working in the role of Acting Principal since John was taken ill. Over the last few weeks Rebecca has done an extraordinary job in keeping the whole Academy community focused on its goal of working to create great learning opportunities for all our students.

The Academy has set a room aside within the school for students, parents, carers and others in order to give everyone the opportunity to record their memories of John, his life and his work in a book of remembrance, as well as to leave flowers, cards, artwork and other items of condolence and thanksgiving should they wish to.

We would politely ask that any condolence cards are sent to the Academy, but that the immediate family and the wider Academy family be left at this time to grieve privately.

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
