Rally Cross and Samba the order of the day at Oasis Academy Immingham Grand Opening!

Dynamic music from a scrap yard, samba bands and a talk from one of the world’s best rally drivers, helped Oasis Academy Immingham celebrate the Grand Opening of their new building.

The new milestone for the Academy started with guided tours of the Academy, where guests were led by proud students around their new building, taking in the car workshop, beauty salon, and state-of-the-art IT suite and more. Tours were followed with a buffet lunch and speeches before the main ceremony kicked off.

Students and guests alike were treated to an inspirational talk from Penny Mallory, the world’s first female rally driver, and were then blown away by the Academy’s Samba band and students from the Scrap Heap Challenge – a dynamic presentation of junk and scrap being used as musical instruments in a funky orchestra.

Steve Chalke, Founder and CEO of Oasis Community Learning, said, “It is absolutely fantastic to reach this day, and incredibly exciting too – not only for the young people who attend the Academy, but for the staff, parents/carers and local community in Immingham. We are all thrilled that Oasis Academy Immingham is now in such a good position to facilitate first-class learning and opportunity for all in the local area.”

The day also marked a farewell tribute to Brian Dixon, who recently resigned from the post of Principal. Incoming Executive Principal Tony Rawdin thanked Brian for all his hard work, saying, “I would like to personally thank Brian for his incredible contribution to the Academy and the community during his time in the post. I know that both staff and students, as well as parents and carers, will want to join me in this. I am grateful for Brian’s achievements and intend to do my best to continue his good work. I believe that Oasis Academy Immingham is brilliantly placed to successfully set all on the road to achieve their life ambitions and dreams.”

Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
