On 1st September 2010, Oasis Academy Oldham will officially come into being, replacing both South Chadderton School and Kaskenmoor School which both close on 31st August 2010.
The new name which was announced at the schools today, is a positive step on the way towards the establishment of the new Academy. The announcement, coupled with the appointment of Mr John Alder as Principal Designate earlier this year, is another significant marker on the path to building a successful and community-focussed Academy.
Steve Chalke, Founder and CEO of Oasis Community Learning, said,
“We are delighted to be involved in the local community with the planned opening of Oasis Academy Oldham, and we look forward to working closely with not only the young people from the area, but the community as a whole. With John as Principal Designate we know the Academy’s future is in good hands.”
Mr Alder commented,
“We are all pleased to announce the new name; Oasis Academy Oldham will officially open in September 2010 and both excitement and expectation are growing in anticipation of this. The name of the Academy is one of many decisions that must be made in the run up to the opening, however we are delighted to be making good progress in all areas, and are looking forward to working with all involved to help build an Academy that serves the local communities to the highest level.”
