Oasis Academies continued gaining improved results with a strong showing in this year’s GCSEs. So good are some of the improvements that we expect some of our Academies to be within the most improved schools nationally for 2010.
Nine Academies sponsored by Oasis Community Learning tabled an improvement on last year’s results for five or more GCSEs at A*-C. There were also strong improvements at five GCSEs including English and Maths, compared with 2009.
Five Oasis Academies: Hadley, Immingham, Lord’s Hill, Shirley Park and Wintringham posted improved results to lift them above the national threshold for 5 A* - C’s with English and Maths.
National recognition could go to Oasis Academy Shirley Park in Coulsdon for its anticipated most-improved status. The Academy tabled a 65% increase in GCSEs including A*-C English and maths, and a 64% increase in five or more A*-C GCSEs, whilst also showing a substantial uplift in the sitting of science GCSEs.
Other Oasis Academies showing a steep improvement in results include Lord’s Hill with a 54% increase in GCSEs A*-C including English and maths; Wintringham with a 46% improvement in five or more A*-C GCSEs including English and maths; and Immingham with a 38% improvement in five or more A*-C GCSEs.
Steve Chalke, Founder and CEO of Oasis Community Learning, said of the results, “I am delighted to once again see improved results in our Oasis Academies. The combined commitment of students, staff, and parents and carers has once again brought in some remarkable results. Academic progress is one amongst a number of important measures of the development of a school, and these results give us confidence that our Oasis Academies are on the right track.”
Aye mate! And welcome to limbo! Problem: I have no idea what page you're trying to work on. You need to define a body ID in the template, then turn on the necessary rows and columns in layout.css. Arrrrgh!
