Working in Partnership with Unions at Oasis Community Learning
At Oasis, we believe that every voice matters and that includes the collective voice of our people through their trade unions. We are proud to have a strong, positive and constructive relationship with recognised teaching and support staff unions, including NASUWT, NEU, Unison, GMB, ASCL, Unite, NAHT and Community.
We see unions as valued partners in shaping the kind of workplace where everyone can grow, thrive, and be treated with fairness and respect. Together, we:
· Listen and act on staff feedback through regular meetings with union representatives.
· Collaborate on policy to improve working conditions, wellbeing, and workload management.
· Support individual members with access to representation when needed.
· Work together on equality and inclusion, ensuring all voices are heard and valued.
This partnership isn’t just on paper, it’s embedded in our culture. Union representatives are active in our schools, meet regularly with leaders, and take part in health and safety committees and consultation on organisational change.
Why this matters for you
When you join Oasis, you’re joining a community where:
· You have the freedom to join a recognised union if you choose.
· Your union representatives have direct access to senior leaders at school, regional and national levels.
· There is a genuine commitment to open dialogue, shared problem-solving, and mutual respect.
Our shared successes
Our history of working closely with unions includes navigating the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic together, introducing flexible working arrangements, improving leave entitlements, and strengthening wellbeing and safety measures. These achievements reflect our ongoing belief that we are stronger together.
A workplace where your voice counts.
Whether through your line manager, our staff networks, or your union representative, we want you to feel heard, supported, and able to thrive. That’s the Oasis way.
