Oasis Academy Temple Quarter will open with 180 places for Year 7s.
The school is forecasted to open in temporary accommodation on a site at Spring Street (BS3 4PZ) from September 2023. The DfE is currently undertaking feasibility works which will be followed by a planning application for the temporary school building. Following planning consent, a temporary building can be constructed and will offer students classrooms, dining areas and outdoor space. The permanent building on Silverthorne Lane is forecasted to open in September 2025, and work is underway preparing the site for construction.
Temporary school site update as of 1st March 2023
After carrying out a feasibility study for the temporary site on Spring Street, the Department for Education (DfE) has identified that the current buildings may be home to bats. Under the Wildlife and Countryside Act bats and their roosts must be protected. It is an offence to disturb bats where that disturbance may affect the ability of those bats to survive, breed, rear or nurture their young.
These findings have impacted the contractor, McAvoy, being able to demolish the current buildings on Spring Street ahead of the academy opening in September 2023.
Oasis has been working with its partners, the Local Authority and DfE, to provide alternative temporary accommodation from September 2023 to December 2023. We are pleased to inform you that Oasis Academy Temple Quarter will open on the Oasis Academy Brislington campus.
The new temporary accommodation is an existing school building with classrooms, a playground and canteen which our students will have exclusive access to. Subjects with specialist equipment such as science will be provided within the main Oasis Academy Brislington buildings.
Transport
We understand that the location of the new temporary site is some distance from Spring Street and families may be concerned about children getting to and from school. The DfE has committed to providing transport for students from BS5 to Oasis Academy Temple Quarter on the Oasis Academy Brislington campus. Oasis will be consulting with families and the coach operator to ensure the route and pick up points are easily accessible for students.
We anticipate being in the new temporary site until the end of Term 1 and moving to Spring Street from January 2024.
How to apply for a place
For the first year of opening, parents will need to apply for a place directly to Oasis Community Learning by completing an online application form. Applications open on Monday 12th September 2022 and the closing date is Monday 31st October 2022.

You will receive an email confirming we have received your application form via the email address you provide. It may take up to 24 hours to receive your confirmation email. How to respond to an offer made
Parents/Carers will be notified of an offer via email on National Offer Day – Wednesday 1st March 2023.
You can respond to an offer made by completing a form. A link to the form will be available in your offer email. The deadline for responding is 15th March 2023.
Important information
In addition to completing an Oasis Academy Temple Quarter application form, parents/carers must also apply for places at established schools through their Local Authority. If you live in Bristol, please click here for the Local Authority website.
Parents/carers will be allocated a place at an established school and a place at Oasis Academy Temple Quarter (subject to oversubscription criteria). Following National Offer Day in March, families will need to choose which school place to accept.
