Staff, parents and pupils at a primary school situated in Warndon, Worcestershire are celebrating amazing improvements in attendance results with numerous group activities taking place across the school week.
Oasis Academy Warndon in Worcestershire have had increasing attendance numbers week on week since the October half term, and what better way to celebrate amazing attainment and progress scores and great attendance than holding a number of activities during ‘Attendance Week’.
On Monday, pupils from reception to year 6 will be able to enjoy a bouncy castle session, with mini discos four nursery pupils, extra playtime for all pupils on Tuesday, on Wednesday and Thursday pupils will be treated to campfire sessions in their amazing forest school with toasting marshmallows, and on Thursday what better way to warm up on a cold day than receiving a hot chocolate and a biscuit.
Charlie, a year 4 pupil at Oasis Academy Warndon, expressed her excitement, commenting saying; “next week will blow my socks off.” Caleb, also in year 4, added; “This is really exciting.”
On the following Monday, pupils in classes which achieved 100% attendance for the week will enjoy a non-uniform day. Oasis Academy Warndon has many other plans throughout the Academic year to celebrate great attendance.
Emily Hobson, Principal of Oasis Academy Warndon, commented on attendance and progress saying; “We’re thrilled with the attendance of the academy increasing nearly every week since October half term and want to reward the children for their super effort. Illnesses and other family issues cannot be avoided but that’s why the national government target is 96% and not 100%.”
“We had our best ever results last year, as well as some of the best results in the area for both attainment and progress, which is supported by the fact our attendance has been increasing over the past few years.”
Oasis Academy Warndon have excelled in terms of progress, the Academy is in the top five schools in Worcestershire for mathematics (+3.3) which is well above national average, and the top 25 in Worcester for reading (+2.2), and for writing (+1.3).
Oasis Academy Warndon is part of the Oasis Community Learning (OCL) multi-academy trust (MAT), and as a MAT, OCL is in the top 25% for reading, and top third for writing and mathematics with some amazing progress scores;

- Maths: +1.7 – Well Above National Average
