Pupils at Oasis Academy Connaught had written match reports about their school football team fixtures, entering LG’s TWINWASH Football Challenge to find the nation’s muckiest and most active school football team.
Following a review of the submissions, Oasis Academy Connaught pupils have won a new school Nike football kit and a visit from the trophy of the oldest cup competition in the world.
When told they had won such great prizes, the school football team was delighted, with huge cheers at school assembly. The Academy’s team has been working hard on their skills this year, and look forward to their first opportunity to wear their new kit in a competitive fixture.
George Fraser, Principal of Oasis Academy Connaught says: “We are delighted for our pupils that they have won a new football kit and a chance to get up close to the FA Cup trophy.”
“Many of our pupils, both girls and boys, really enjoy sport and especially football. It is great exercise and they have been really developing their teamwork skills this year.”
“We are really grateful to the competition holder’s LG for the opportunity; we are always looking for ways to encourage our children to be active and the Football Challenge and match reports were a brilliant idea.”
“Our pupils had a great time having their photo taken with the trophy, and we look forward to seeing them proudly wear their new kit in the near future.”
Mark Hill, Partnerships and Programme Manager at LG Electronics and a former professional player for QPR, Brentford and Wycombe Wanderers, addressed the school and presented pupils with their new kits and Cup.
Mark, who even previously played in the FA Cup against Bristol Rovers, said: “We’re really proud to have engaged schools and community teams across the nation with the LG TWINWASH™ Football Challenge, and delighted to name Oasis Academy Connaught as the well-deserving winners.
“As an official partner of the FA, we’re pleased to give Team OAC the ultimate recognition by allowing them to celebrate their glory with a visit from the official Emirates FA Cup – the ultimate motivation as we enter the big summer of football.”
