"Everyone included" as Oasis Founder open's Oldham's newest primary academy

Pupils, staff, and parents of Oldham’s newest primary academy looks to the future as it was officially opened by Oasis Founder Rev Steve Chalke MBE today.

Oasis Academy Clarksfield in Oldham is officially open. Following a parent greeting in the playground and a speech from Oasis Founder Steve Chalke to the school pupils telling a story about being part of the Oasis family and being included, all pupils and staff then gathered in the playground for a balloon release to declare the academy officially open.

Angela Sweeting, Executive Principal of Oasis Academy Clarksfield, commented saying; “Today is an exciting day as we mark the academy officially open, my staff and I are committed to making this academy a place of great learning where all pupils excel and achieve, and today marks an important milestone in that journey. Oasis Academy Clarksfield will continue to play an active part in the Oldham community.”

Oasis Academy Clarksfield, situated on Grasmere Road will be one the main the feeder schools to Oasis Academy Leesbrook, which opened its doors as a new secondary academy in September 2018 on Middleton Road.

Rev Steve Chalke, Founder of Oasis, commented on the opening, saying; “What a privilege and honour it has been to open Oasis Academy Clarksfield today. Over thirty years ago when I began the Oasis charity with the aim of transforming communities, I would never have dreamed I would be standing here opening our fifty-second school.”

“While this is of course an exciting day for our current pupils, this academy will continue to serve the children of Oldham for generations to come, providing them with a first-class school in which to learn and grow together.”

Oasis Community Learning has one other Oldham primary school, Oasis Academy Limeside which is rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted where 94 per cent of pupils reached the governments expected standard in reading, writing and maths.
