Heritage and community connection in upcoming event at Oasis Hub Hobmoor

Sharing Yardley’s local heritage through stories and memories of its community, in partnership with Oasis Academy Hobmoor, Mercurial Dance is all set to launch ‘Histories at Hobmoor’ in early May.

Oasis Academy Hobmoor, situated in the heart of Yardley, Birmingham will be holding the exciting launch event of the new ‘Histories at Hobmoor’ digital app on Thursday 2nd May 2019.

Histories at Hobmoor is a partnership Heritage Lottery funded project which has fostered a love of heritage and deeper community connection in Yardley, enabling both adults and children to learn about their heritage and share their stories of moving to, and living in this area.

A celebratory end of project event will be held at Hobmoor Hub where the app will be ready to download for free, sharing Yardley’s local heritage through stories and memories of its communities. The app is the legacy of a two year project that has fostered a love of heritage and deeper community connection in Yardley, enabling both adults and children to learn about their heritage and share their stories of moving to, and living in the area.

The app will lead audience members on a tour of Yardley where they can listen to oral histories from local people, view photographs, and see artwork and poetry from children in response to the findings and the local area.

All of the media can now be found on the Histories at Hobmoor website.

The website is maintained as an ongoing resource where content can be uploaded, adding stories, memories and photographs from the local area. This will create a resource that people from Yardley and beyond can continue to connect with and use, to find out more about Yardley and its community’s history.

Oasis Academy Hobmoor and Mercurial Dance hope that you can come along and test out their shiny new app! Please RSVP by email here to let them know you will be coming along to their launch event.
