For parents, staff and pupils at a local primary school situated in Yardley, Birmingham, it’s time to celebrate as they receive an overwhelmingly positive Ofsted report.
Oasis Academy Hobmoor in Yardley, Birmingham, received a visit from Ofsted inspectors last month, and in a letter to Principal Darren King, they declared it “Good” in all areas.
Ofsted praised the Academy for its commitment to the multi-academy trust (MAT) and creating a thriving learning space for all and following the trust’s vision of providing ‘exceptional education at the heart of the community’. Highlights in the report include;
- “Staff, parents and pupils are very positive about the school.”
- “The leadership of the school is inspirational.”
- “Progress in writing and mathematics at the end of Year 6 is above or well above national average for all children.”
- “Pupils appreciate the education they receive and are proud to attend Oasis Academy Hobmoor.”
- “All pupils are highly motivated by the rich curriculum.”
Inspectors credited Principal Darren King and the Academy’s leadership team for continuing to build on the firm foundations to create a thriving learning community.
Within the report, the lead inspector has recommended that the next inspection of Oasis Academy Hobmoor be a full Section 5. Quoted from the report, it reads; “the school has demonstrated strong practice and marked improvement in specific areas. This may indicate that the school has improved significantly overall.”
Oasis Academy Hobmoor was first inspected as an Academy in March 2015 where it also received a glowing report and was graded “Good” in all areas.
Darren King, Principal of Oasis Academy Hobmoor, commented on the amazing success, saying; “I am exceptionally proud of this report and would like to thank the pupils, staff, parents and members of the community who over the years have supported us on our continued to journey to provide amazing education to the children in our care.
“We are particularly pleased that inspectors praised the breadth and depth of opportunities through the rich curriculum we offer to the pupils.”
Inspectors were particularly impressed with how the school’s curriculum provides pupils with learning experiences which enrich and enhance their understanding of the world around them, and that pupils are proud to attend Oasis Academy Hobmoor.
Academy parents are very positive about the school and speak highly of leaders and all staff with one parent saying to inspectors ‘leaders couldn’t do more’ to support her and her young family. This was just one comment of a number provided to Ofsted inspectors during the schools inspection.
