A blossoming partnership as the new Sainsbury’s Local store situated in Harbour City, Salford pledges £500 to a local secondary school hub to support and continue the excellent community provisions already in place.
Oasis Academy MediaCityUK was approached by the manager of Sainsbury’s Local store in Harbour City to see some of the community and Hub work in action at the secondary school.
During their visit they were invited to Oasis Hub MediaCity’s Talk English Café, where local people mainly with English as a second language cooked and ate together, all with the key intention to build community and create conversation that will help them further develop their English speaking.
It doesn’t end there, the Sainsbury’s Management Team kindly brought a dessert with them and were able to meet with a number of families, eat together and play a game of Giant Jenga with a group of children. During their visit they were able to find more about local issues affecting local people as well as enjoy the great food cooked by the local community.
Adam Webster, Community Hub Leader and Chaplain & Church Leader at Oasis Academy MediaCityUK, commented on the partnership, saying; “We’re so thrilled to be partnered with the new Sainsbury’s Local store at Harbour City as their charity of the year.
“We hope to further build on this partnership through supporting the local stores events and inviting them to our community projects / events, and raise awareness of community issues through appeals.”
After their visit, Sainsbury’s Management wanted to explore the ways they could help support local people and become involved in initiatives that can further shape the local community of Oasis Academy MediaCityUK.
From this Sainsbury’s have kindly pledged £500 to the hub to support the existing provisions. In return Oasis Academy MediaCityUK were able to bring some students to cut the ribbon at their opening event today. Everyone was very excited about the new store and the Sainsbury’s team welcomed and thanked the young people for taking the time to come to the store.
