Working in collaboration with Saints Foundation and GO! Southampton, a special edition of The Big Issue created by students at Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill, features a unique insight into the world of Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl as he is introduced to the joys of Southampton by students from across the city. The students aged between thirteen and fifteen, were selected by Saints Foundation’s Community Champion programme.
Hasenhuttl was treated to bowling, table hockey, climbing and even ice cream at Sprinkles by the students. A unique opportunity to find out more about the Saints Manager and his team.
Oasis Academy Lord’s Hill students have been working on the project for many weeks which has included a trip to The Big Issue HQ in Glasgow, Scotland.
Paul McNamee, Big Issue Editor, said; “I am delighted that we are collaborating once again with the mighty Saints Foundation and this time with such inspiring bunch of young people. There is such positive force coming from Saints and also, I’ve discovered, from the rest of Southampton. They genuinely want to help people be the best that can be. We support that at The Big Issue. Also, if my regular team had editorial meetings buzzing with as many ideas as this young team have, I’d be over the moon!”
The Saint’s Foundation is the charity of Southampton Football Club with the main purpose of using the power and passion of the club to transform lives in and around Southampton, helping people fulfil their potential to be more involved, healthier and empowered members of the local community.
