Pupils, staff, and parents at a local primary school in the heart of Winson Green, Birmingham are celebrating after receiving a glowing letter from Secretary of State for Education, Damian Hinds, and Minister of State for School Standards, Nick Gibb.
The letter, addressed to Principal, Emma Johnson thanks the staff for their hard work, which reads;
“Your schools results, as published 13th December, show progress scores of 3.3, 6.5 and 5.3 in English reading, writing and mathematics respectively. This means that in terms of the progress your pupils make between Key Stage 1 and the end of Key Stage 2, your school is amongst the top 3% of schools in England."
Oasis Academy Foundry is striving for success as they were ranked in 1st place for writing, and 4th place for maths in Birmingham, meaning they are in the top 3% nationally for performance.
Emma Johnson, Principal of Oasis Academy Foundry, commented on the Academy’s success saying; “We are delighted to have received this letter from the Secretary of State for Education, and Minister of State for School Standards. The Academy has been on a transformational journey and our successes have been through the passion and commitment of my team, who I am honoured to work with each and every day.”
The letter also added; “We want to equip every child with the fluency in reading, writing and mathematics necessary to prepare them for a successful secondary education and beyond, and Oasis Academy Foundry has provided this”.
