Oasis Academy MediaCity's Deputy Principal Dwain Brandy, who demonstrates strong allyship in promoting gender equality, was selected to join the launch of the new Whitepaper on the lack of representation of women in the National GCSE/A-Level STEM Curriculum, in celebration of 2024 International Women's Day with Stemettes.

Stemettes is an award-winning social enterprise working to inspire and support girls, young women and non-binary people in STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) careers!

The event was held at the House of Commons, UK Parliament on 7th March from 3.15pm to 5pm, and brought together educators and academics, young people, industry representatives, funders and entrepreneurs to build on momentum, maximise commitments and bring about change to ensure women in STEM are proportionally represented across the GCSE/A Level Curriculums in England.

Dwain said “I want to express how much I enjoyed my time at the House of Commons. It was an enriching experience, and I am excited to share some valuable insights with you all.

During the event, I obtained a copy of the Stemettes white paper and wanted to share a digital version (below) with you which concentrates on fostering more diverse women representation in the STEM curriculum.”
