Dr Herminder Channa joins National Policy Advisory Board for the CST!
Back in July, the Confederation of School Trusts (CST) announced plans to establish an elected policy advisory group, designed to broaden the involvement of trust leaders in policy discussions.
We are pleased to announce that Dr Herminder Channa, OCL Regional Director for the Midlands, has been voted onto the national policy advisory board for the CST to provide feedback and insight on policy issues facing trusts like Oasis Community Learning.
Herminder is one of just thirty-six academy trust leaders to have been elected to the advisory group out of the 125 leaders that were in the running to join the new representative forum that will support CST in developing policy positions and speaking for the sector to external policy makers, including ministers.
Deputy CST CEO Steve Rollett said the new group would provide “critical, front-line perspectives that will help to shape the policy landscape for school trusts across England”.
The CST is the sector body for school trusts. They support the work of school trusts, but more than this they exist to build an excellent education system in which every school is part of a strong and sustainable group, where every child is a powerful learner, and adults learn and develop together as teachers and leaders.
Herminder said, “It is a real privilege to have secured the vote from colleagues in the sector and I want to thank you all for putting your trust and faith in me. Being part of the advisory group, ensuring the sector voice is heard, influencing and feeding into government policy is a real honour.”
Please join us in congratulating Herminder on this important appointment.
