“Education should be about lighting fires within our young people – helping them to flourish"

As young people across the country return to the classroom we are pleased to share with you a short video message from our CEO, John Murphy, about Oasis’s passion for supporting every student to flourish.

“In Oasis Community Learning we have a long term vision, where we want to develop the character and competence of every child, and we want them to be a part of transforming their communities – and it is for each individual person, it’s about them flourishing and understanding what flourishing is like.”

“Education should be about lighting fires. It should be about turning around to our young people and saying, ‘I’m going to find out what you’re good at, and I’m going to drive the passion with you, and for you.’”

Those who work and volunteer at an Oasis academy and in an Oasis hub share a commitment to making education more than just acquiring knowledge.

“For Oasis, our young people having a sense of resilience, confidence, having a sense of who are they and who are they becoming, is in equal part to knowing some things.”
