In light of Men's Health Week last week, Oasis Academy Woodview proudly hosted its first-ever Father's Day breakfast. While society often celebrates and highlights the importance of a mother's bond with her child, Deputy Principal, Miss K Satti, believes that elevating the idea of fatherhood in the local community, and for families from the academy, is equally important.

The event embraced an open-door policy, welcoming approximately 35 families. Sodexo provided a range of different breakfast items, including pastries, fruit, yoghurt, granola, fruit juices, and hot drinks. The atmosphere was warm and inviting as pupils engaged in various arts and craft activities, such as tracing their dads' hands over theirs, creating heartfelt Father's Day cards, and bonding with them through shared experiences.

One father expressed his gratitude, saying, "We feel really grateful to the school for inviting us in to do this and involving us in our children's school life. It really creates amazing memories for us."

Deputy Principal Miss K Satti reflected on the event's success, stating, "We wanted to create an inclusive and supportive environment where fathers and special men in the children’s lives feel valued and recognised for their crucial role in their children's lives. The turnout and the positive feedback from families have been overwhelming, and it reinforces our belief in the importance of celebrating fatherhood. This event has laid a wonderful foundation for future family-based celebrations at our academy."

Principal Mr J Darnley shared his thoughts on the event, saying, "Seeing the joy on the children's faces as they spent quality time with their fathers was truly heartwarming. We are proud to support and celebrate the fathers in our community and look forward to making the Father's Day breakfast an annual tradition."
