On Saturday 13th of January, Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey’s Hub team hosted a heart-warming coffee morning in collaboration with The Royal British Legion at the academy's Minster site. The event, which saw a turnout of 28 people, aimed to bring the community together for a delightful morning of coffee, cakes, and camaraderie.

This special Coffee Morning was organized as part of the late Jo Cox Foundation's 'Winter Get Together.' The initiative encourages communities to come together during the winter months, fostering a sense of connection and support. Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey, in partnership with The Royal British Legion, successfully contributed to this campaign.

The event, not only a celebration of community spirit but also a fundraiser, managed to raise an impressive £65 for the Sheppey Branch of The Royal British Legion. The funds will undoubtedly contribute to the Legion's invaluable work in supporting veterans and their families.

One of the highlights of the morning was the exceptional behaviour and dedication of the Oasis Academy Isle of Sheppey students. Paul Murray, Community Leader, expressed his pride in the students, stating, "Our students are just the best. Compliments again for them today." Their active involvement in organizing and facilitating the event showcased their commitment to community service.

Among the students who stood out was Jamie, who received praise from an attendee named Rita. Jamie's politeness, helpfulness, and caring attitude left a lasting impression on Rita. She took the opportunity to commend Jamie to the headmaster, emphasizing that he is a credit to the academy's Hub team. Rita expressed her belief that Jamie is destined for success, describing him as "such a lovely young man."

Dawn Fitchett, an attendee at the event, expressed her gratitude, saying, "Thanks again for your hospitality this morning. It was lovely to see so many people there. Your students are an absolute credit to you and very attentive. I was also impressed with how clean everywhere was and how fresh it felt."

Not only did the coffee morning bring the community together, but it also exemplified the positive impact that students can have through their active involvement. The success of the event, both in terms of fundraising and community engagement, reflects the Academy's commitment to nurturing not only academic excellence but also compassionate and responsible individuals who make a positive difference in the world. The heartening feedback from attendees signifies the importance of such initiatives in fostering a sense of community pride and connection.
