In a sky full of stars, pupils shine at Coldplay concert in Manchester!
Touring once again, Coldplay brought their ‘Music of the Spheres’ show to Manchester on the 31st of May and 1st June at the Etihad Stadium, inviting along a talented young bunch of pupils to play the steel pans as a supporting act to their spectacular concert.
Oasis Academy Temple first partnered with Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Cisco Systems to celebrate courageous teachers and resilient students after challenging times during the global COVID-19 pandemic.
Cisco Systems captured some wonderful moments pupils from Oasis Academy Temple had with Chris Martin in a live question and answer session, including the moment when the famous musician told the pupils that he was impressed with their skills and abilities to play the steel pans, and would remember them in the future.
Well, he certainly did, and this resulted in the youngsters being invited on stage, with a huge platform, to showcase their brilliance in playing instruments at such a young age, in front of thousands of people.
Upon their arrival to the Etihad Stadium, the pupils were pleasantly surprised to have their own dressing room with their name on the door and were excited to tour backstage with the rest of the performers!
The pupils from Years 5 and 6 performed a range of songs from artists such as Beyonce and Harry Styles and despite some nerves gave a fantastic show.
Principal of Oasis Academy Temple, Sara-Jayne Martin, overjoyed at this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for her pupils said: “A special thank you to Chris Martin and the Tour team for making this event possible and to Scott Sinclair who leads the band, the children were left with memories to last a lifetime.”
