A local primary school in the heart of Romford and dedicated to playing an active role within the local community has partnered with a food provider to distribute meals to families in need throughout the half term break.

Oasis Academy Pinewood has partnered with Logan’s Plate a Romford based toddlers and baby food company to provide free packed lunches for families eligible for free school meals. The lunches will be made up of a small selection of items (sandwiches/rolls, vegetables, fruit etc).

It comes after Manchester United and England footballer Marcus Rashford, MBE, launching a petition to help end child food poverty.

The petition has gained over a million signatures since its launch, and on the ground local people and businesses, as well as some larger chains, are doing their bit to help.

Logan’s Plate was set up by Tijani which provides healthy, nutritious convenient options, without the guilt for babies and toddlers.

Tijani, Founder and Owner of Logan’s Plate, said; “The government's decision to not provide free school meals to children who really need it during the half term break doesn’t make sense to us. All children deserve to be nourished. All children should be able to eat no matter where they are, and we’re delighted to be working with Oasis Academy Pinewood to help the families of Havering by providing free lunches.”

In a Facebook post by Logan’s Plate, it reads; ‘On Friday 30th October we will be at Oasis Academy Pinewood with FREE packed lunches for families eligible for free school meals.’

‘If you are a family that is eligible for free school meals, please email halfterm@logansplate.com and state; if you require a packed lunch and for how many children, and any dietary requirements.

‘We only request you tell us this info because we need to prepare enough meals. Your personal information will never be shared with anyone.’

‘Lunches will be available for collection 11am-1pm on Friday from Oasis Academy Pinewood, Thistledene Avenue, Collier Row, Romford, Essex RM5 2TX.’

Jenni Elliot, Principal at Oasis Academy Pinewood, added; “I’m really grateful that Tijani and Logan’s plate reached out to offer our local community much needed help at this difficult time. As a school we are committed to working with and supporting our local community however we can”
