Oasis Academy Bank Leaze, a local primary school in the heart of Lawrence Weston, is proudly celebrating a very positive Ofsted report this month. During their visit in November 2025, inspectors awarded the academy a ‘strong’ judgement in achievement, inclusion, leadership and governance, and personal development and wellbeing.

The report, published this week, highlights the academy’s ambitious leadership, robust support for pupils, and dedication to strong outcomes.

Inspectors found that pupils achieve consistently well, with attainment in reading, writing and maths at the end of Key Stage 2 typically above national averages. Leaders were praised for high ambitions for their school and its community, swiftly closing gaps in learning and ensuring pupils develop the strong foundations they need.

Pupils who join the academy at an earlier stage of learning, including those who speak English as an additional language, were acknowledged for making rapid progress and producing high-quality work.  Inspectors concluded that pupils leave Oasis Academy Bank Leaze well prepared for the next stage of their education.

Highlighting the academies commitment to provide every student with an exceptional education, the report also notes that pupils with SEND, and in receipt of pupil premium funding learn the same curriculum as their peers. As a result, these pupils not only feel included but also achieve well.

Oasis Academy Bank Leaze pupils were praised for a strong understanding of friendship, healthy relationships, British values and the wider world.

Inspectors described the primary school as a highly inclusive and welcoming environment, fondly known by pupils as “the blue school on the hill.” They praised the warm, respectful relationships between staff and pupils, noting that adults know pupils as individuals and take time to listen to them.

Across the school, pupils try their best, produce high‑quality work, and benefit from staff who remove barriers to learning for the most vulnerable. Inspectors concluded that pupils are happy, safe and well prepared for the future.

Amelia Nelson, Principal of Oasis Academy Bank Leaze in Bristol, said:

“We are delighted that Ofsted has recognised our academy as meeting a strong standard in many areas, under its new inspection framework. The report highlights our pupils’ strong achievement in reading, writing and maths, our focus on personal development, and our unwavering commitment to inclusion.
