Oasis Academy Leesbrook awarded SEND Inclusion Award

Oasis Academy Leesbrook has been awarded the SEND Inclusion Award by Optimus Education, recognising the academy’s outstanding commitment to inclusive practice and improving outcomes for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). 

The award celebrates the academy’s strong alignment with the Oasis ethos of inclusion, with the inspection report highlighting that “inclusion is embedded across school life, with strong systems for identifying need, planning provision, reviewing impact and involving learners and families.” 

During the process, colleagues showcased the depth and strength of inclusive practice across the academy. This included a detailed overview of the graduated response, pupil passports, provision mapping and intervention tracking, alongside a tour of the Hive Provision and Bridge classroom. Together, this demonstrated a culture where inclusion is not an add-on, but a significant part of daily academy life. 

Inspectors also heard directly from learners, parents and staff, who spoke about the impact of strong relationships and consistent support. Particular recognition was given to the leadership of Strategic SENCO, Rebecca O’Neill, and the dedication and expertise of teaching assistants and learning support assistants across the academy. 

Rebecca said: 
“Receiving the SEND Inclusion Award at Oasis Academy Leesbrook is a proud recognition of our unwavering commitment to placing the child at the centre of everything we do. We are driven by a strengths-based approach, celebrating each learner’s unique abilities and potential, and ensuring every child feels valued, supported and empowered to succeed.” 

She continued: 
“This award reflects the dedication of our staff and community, and our shared belief that true inclusion is the foundation of an exceptional education.” 

This recognition is one of many examples of how Oasis Academy Leesbrook continues to deliver on the wider Oasis vision, ensuring every child belongs, can thrive and is supported to reach their full potential.

Inclusion is the golden thread running through everything we do here at the academy, and as Principal, I am incredibly proud to lead a school that is truly committed to unlocking the potential of each and every student in our care.”
