Oasis Academy Limeside has been shortlisted for the prestigious TES Award in the ‘Inclusive School of the Year’ category. This recognition, which is often known as ‘the Oscars of Education’ is a testament to the academy’s commitment to providing the very best education for all children, regardless of their background and educational needs.

Inclusivity at Oasis Academy Limeside is a core value that resonates with every staff member, pupil and the wider academy community. The academy has taken great strides to adapt its provision and create an environment that is inclusive and adaptive to the needs of every child. This includes ensuring that pupils with more complex needs can access appropriate provision within the same school as their siblings, family members, and neighbours. For this, they were most recently honoured with the ‘ADHD Friendly School Award.’

The academy’s approach, known as ‘The Limeside Way,’ is an inclusive approach to the teaching of pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEND). In a community impacted by Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues, as well as Trauma and Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), Oasis Academy Limeside seeks to provide a relational, restorative, and trauma-responsive education system that celebrates the strengths and meets the needs of every pupil and family.

Emily Charles, Assistant Principal for Inclusion said “I am incredibly proud of the hard work and dedication the whole team at Oasis Academy Limeside demonstrate to being as inclusive as possible. We put the children at the heart of everything we do at Oasis Academy Limeside, which has led to us creating our child-led diversity steering group, our Limeside Way for behaviour and also the two enhanced learning environments we have, ‘The Wizard Lab’ and ‘The Wizard Workshop,’ for children who may find their classrooms overwhelming.

I am so pleased that the efforts of all of the staff at Limeside have been recognised in being shortlisted for this award, which is a huge cause for celebration!”

Principal Lauren Norris said “I am incredibly proud of what all the staff at Oasis Academy Limeside do on a day-to-day basis to make it the school that it is. Over the past few years staff, parents and children have been working closely together with a relational approach to ensure we provide the most inclusive and effective experience for all of our young people.

Being shortlisted for this award truly demonstrates exceptional education at the heart of our community. Partnerships and relationships are at the heart of everything we do here at Oasis Academy Limeside, and this award is for everyone in our community. We would like to thank our amazing parents, staff and children for their continued support and appreciation.

The TES Schools Awards recognises the very best teachers and schools from UK state and independent schools, across early years settings, primary and secondary. The shortlist was complied by a panel of expert judges, including school leaders and experts. The schools and teachers they chose showcase the best of education across the sector within 21 award categories, covering all areas of school education.

Jon Severs, Editor of TES Magazine said, “Congratulations to all the shortlisted entries – the standard was so high this year despite the challenges schools face. It is critical we celebrate excellence and share it widely so we can ensure the fantastic work happening in education is properly recognised.”

Winners will be announced on 21st June at a glittering gala awards night at the Grosvenor Hotel, Park Lane, in London.
