Oasis Academy Lister Park teacher raises money for NHS during pandemic
A secondary school teacher in the heart of Bradford has set herself a milestone challenge whilst raising important funds for the NHS in the process.
Florentina Taylor, EAL Co-Ordinator and Assistant SENCO at Oasis Academy Lister Park, situated in the centre of Bradford is a massive supporter of the NHS.
As well as a teacher and a mother of two daughters, whilst working from home her thoughts are constantly with the people who risk their lives on a daily basis on the frontline fighting this pandemic.
As a personal thank you to the NHS, Florentina began to run at least 5km at a time. In total she has chosen to run a total of 175km in total, which she admits is a huge challenge.
The secondary school teacher is well on the way to running a total of 175km, so far, she has run 90km in total and is continuing to push herself to not let any of her individual runs fall below 5km.
Florentina dedicates each run to friends in the NHS, then to people from her local community who work for the NHS. She dedicates every run to someone (a person or a group of people) to make it personal and hoping that her little effort makes someone feel positive about their day.
Florentina Taylor, EAL Co-Ordinator & Assistant SENCO at Oasis Academy Lister Park said; “It is incredibly difficult, because I am not the athletic type, however every effort is worth it to support the NHS.”
“I have friends who are doctors and health workers and they wrote to me saying that our support raises their spirits and boosts their morale in these times of high pressure."
“It's the least I can do to support the committed workers from the National Health Service who, despite all shortages, carry on regardless, sometimes paying the dearest price: their life.”
“Now, more than ever we need to practice our 9 Oasis Habits, turn the words into actions and bring our input from either side of the battlefield with this deadly virus.”
Florentina has so far raised £125 towards her £150 target. You can find out more about her journey and donate HERE.
