Oasis Academy MediaCityUK shortlisted for ‘Best Use of Technology’ at the Tes Schools Awards 2023
We are delighted to share that Oasis Academy MediaCityUK has been shortlisted for the ‘Best Use of Technology’ category in the Tes Schools Awards 2023.
At Oasis, we know that our pupils are always learning, both inside the classroom and at home, and that families play an essential part in supporting the educational journey. We also understand the importance of having a dynamic, engaging and outstanding curriculum, taught by our subject experts in the best possible way.
Oasis Academy MediaCityUK’s submission of the Oasis Horizons scheme, means that we are able to promote the transformational idea which provides every primary, secondary and sixth form student and their teachers and support staff, with an iPad to give them access to enhanced online learning, no matter where they are. Students and teachers use the devices together in lessons to bring subjects to life and participate in shared learning.
Oasis Horizons is the third part of a wider strategy; the other two elements being the development of an outstanding Oasis curriculum and investing in our pedagogy; making sure that we are sharing the latest and best teaching methods with our staff.
The technology puts exceptional teaching and learning into the hands of every Oasis student at school, and at home no matter where they are in the country. With Oasis Horizons, our young people have the opportunity to develop a firm foundation towards further education, or aspirational, fulfilling and prosperous careers.
The Tes School Awards are an opportunity for outstanding educational establishments and people within the field of education to be recognised for their exceptional practice and positive impact on children’s lives. The ceremony, taking place on Friday 23rd June in London, is heralded as one of the most important events for education acknowledgement in the sector, and celebrates 20 categories for nomination.
Principal of Oasis Academy MediaCityUK has commented: “I am really pleased that the Oasis Horizons project is being recognised. As a family, we believe in the equity of provision, every child and young person has the right to have access to technology in order to advance their education. Special thanks to our Year 9 Pastoral Leader, Mr Owen McGrattan for the submission.”
John Murphy, Chief Executive Officer of OCL also congratulated Oasis Academy MediaCityUK on this nomination: “In Oasis, we want to transform learning in the classroom and empower every one of our teachers, children and young people. So, the Horizons project underpins our new curriculum offer successfully uniting education, and creativity together in a way that empowers or young people to broaden their horizons.”
