Oasis Academy Putney pupils go behind-the-scenes at Wagamama
A primary school in the heart of Putney Common got a special invite to their local Wagamama restaurant in Putney where they got to see behind the scenes of a working kitchen, and try some Japanese cuisines.
Oasis Academy Putney took a group of 45 pupils along with their parents to the Wagamama restaurant situated on Putney High Street.
Pupils made their own fruit juice and then used weighing scales to measure 20 grams of mange tout, sweetcorn and red pepper, which the chefs turned into an amazing dish in the kitchen, mixing it with noodles, chicken or tofu.
The excited group of youngsters were thinking about the array of different foods and where they had come from and what key nutrients they have in them.
Rebecca Pickering, Maple Class Teacher at Oasis Academy Putney, said; “All of the staff were outstanding. The teachers, children and parents really enjoyed visiting Wagamama’s and felt very well looked after. Thank you for making our trip so informative and enjoyable.”
Wagamama is a British restaurant chain, serving Asian food based on Japanese cuisine. The first restaurant was opened in 1992 in Bloomsbury, London.
Since then, the chain now has over 190 restaurants, with 130 being in the United Kingdom.
Phoebe, pupil from Oasis Academy Putney, commented on the trip, saying; “I never tried noodles but they were delicious. I had never made apple juice but I loved making it.”
Imaan added; “My favourite thing about Wagamama was when we made juice.”
Danish continued; “I enjoyed eating the noodles. It was so yummy.”
