A local Croydon primary school, situated on the heart of Oakley Road, is celebrating this week after scooping a top award from an independent company for safety excellence.

The Deputy Principal, Natalie French, is the lead/champion for health and safety at the school and has received IOSH training and has good knowledge of Health and Safety legislation.’

Glenn Lillo, Principal at Oasis Academy Ryelands, commented on the certification, saying; “We are thrilled to be recognised with the SafetyMARK award. We take the safety of our staff and pupils extremely seriously and it’s wonderful to have this recognition for all of our efforts to make our school such a safe place to work and study.”

“Having achieved the SafetyMARK award, we can demonstrate our on-going commitment to maintaining excellence in the management of health and safety within our school”.

The report also highlighted the high percentage score that the academy gained; ‘The overall SafetyMARK audit score for Oasis Academy Ryelands was 87%. Therefore, the SafetyMARK award of excellence has been obtained, for which the school is to be commended.’

Justin Smith, from SafetyMARK, added; “Oasis Academy Ryelands has a really positive attitude with regard to health and safety and it is clear to see that safety is taken extremely seriously and that it is very well managed.
