Oasis Academy Warndon celebrates consecutive OPAL Platinum award success

Oasis Academy Warndon has once again been recognised as one of the country's leading schools for outdoor play, securing its second consecutive OPAL (Outdoor Play and Learning) Platinum Award.

As reported by Worcester News, the prestigious award recognises schools that demonstrate excellence in creating high-quality, inclusive play opportunities that support children's wellbeing, development and learning. Oasis Academy Warndon is among a select group of primary schools nationally to achieve and retain the Platinum standard.  

To mark the achievement, the academy hosted a special extended play session for pupils and their families, opening its outdoor spaces and inviting parents and carers to experience first-hand the play opportunities available to children every day. Families enjoyed a range of activities across the school's outdoor environment, including sandpits, construction areas, woodland spaces, arts and crafts stations, sports facilities, mud kitchens and tree swings.

We wanted to celebrate this success in a way that reflected what the award is all about – giving children and families the opportunity to play together, have fun and experience the amazing outdoor environment we have created.

Throughout the event, Oasis Academy Warndon pupils led their families around their favourite play areas, showcasing the creativity, teamwork and imagination that outdoor play helps to inspire. OPAL assessors praised the academy's commitment to providing engaging and meaningful play experiences for every child, alongside its strong sense of community and inclusive approach.

The academy continues to invest in its outdoor provision, with plans underway to develop a sensory garden and further expand its OPAL Club, ensuring even more opportunities for children to play, learn and thrive.  

This latest recognition reflects the collective efforts of pupils, colleagues, families and the wider community in creating an environment where children can flourish through play.
