Our National Director of Education Transformation, Liz Robinson, has been featured in a significant TES investigation examining whether schools serving higher proportions of pupils with SEND and those facing disadvantage are more likely to receive lower Ofsted inspection grades.

The investigation analysed inspection outcomes under Ofsted's new framework and found that schools with higher levels of pupils with SEND were more likely to be graded below the expected standard across multiple judgement areas, including the watchdog's dedicated inclusion category.

The findings have prompted wider debate across the sector about whether current inspection arrangements adequately reflect the realities faced by schools serving communities with greater levels of need.

Commenting within the article, Liz Robinson highlighted concerns that the emerging pattern risks undermining efforts to create a more inclusive education system.

She said:

"These findings deeply undermine this government's key agenda on inclusion and reinforce the negative motivation for school leaders to resist being more inclusive in their intake."

At Oasis, inclusion remains at the heart of our educational vision. We believe all children and young people deserve an exceptional education and that schools should be recognised and supported for the work they do to meet the needs of every learner.
