Oasis GCSE results show continued progress for pupils facing disadvantage

Students across Oasis Community Learning are celebrating their GCSE and vocational qualification results today, as the trust reports continued progress across Key Stage 4, significant improvements amongst pupils facing disadvantage and exceptional performances from Oasis academies across the country.  

More than 3,300 students from the trust’s largest Year 11 cohort to date are now looking ahead to sixth forms, colleges, apprenticeships and other post-16 destinations. Their achievements are the result of years of hard work, perseverance and ambition, supported by dedicated teachers, support staff, families and wider communities. 

Key highlights:  

• Continued progress across Key Stage 4: Oasis maintaining attainment levels broadly in line with last year while continuing to improve student progress. 

• Disadvantage improvements: the proportion of disadvantaged students achieving grade 4+ in English and maths rising for the third consecutive year and the gap reducing from 23 to 19 percentage points since 2024. 

• Exceptional academy performances: Oasis Academy South Bank saw 97% of students achieved grade 4+ in English, while Oasis Academy Lord's Hill recorded a 12 percentage point increase in 4+ English and maths.  

While this year's national picture reflects the challenges faced by a cohort whose education was significantly disrupted during the pandemic, Oasis is encouraged to see continued stable progress. Most notably, outcomes for disadvantaged students have strengthened further. 

The proportion of disadvantaged pupils achieving grade 4+ in English and maths has increased for the third consecutive year, rising from 41% in 2024 to 44% this year, while the disadvantage gap has narrowed from 23 percentage points to 19 points over the same period. 

These results build on Oasis' strongest ever primary and post-16 outcomes achieved earlier this summer and reflect the trust's ongoing commitment to high-quality teaching, strong attendance, ambitious leadership and ensuring that every child can flourish, regardless of background or starting point.  

Alongside encouraging trust-wide progress, several Oasis academies have achieved particularly notable results. 

Oasis Academy South Bank in Waterloo achieved exceptional attainment, with 97% of students securing a grade 4 or above in English, placing it among the highest-performing schools nationally. Oasis Academy Lord's Hill in Southampton also delivered remarkable improvements, with the proportion of students achieving grades 4 and above in English and maths rising from 45% to 57% in just one year, a 12 percentage point increase.  

Reflecting the growing impact of sustained school improvement across the trust, strong gains were also recorded at Oasis Academy John Williams in Bristol, where attainment improved across grades 4+, 5+ and 7+ in English and maths. Oasis Academy Coulsdon in Croydon also improved in every English and maths benchmark, including an eight-percentage-point increase in grades 7 and above, while Oasis Academy Wintringham in Grimsby achieved a seven-percentage-point rise in grade 4+ attainment. 

As Oasis secondary academies celebrate their students’ next steps, these promising results provide the foundation for them to develop the skills, knowledge and confidence they need to thrive in work and life.
