Oasis’s GCSE class of 2022 - Hard work, resilience and achievement

For Oasis’s 3,000 Year 11s the wait for their GCSE results was finally over today, and at every academy there were many achievements to celebrate.

Students queued nervously to return to school and to receive an envelope with their final grades which they excitedly shared with friends and families.  Teachers and staff were on hand to share their congratulations and support where needed, and to ensure that every young person knew their next steps.

John Murphy, CEO of Oasis Community Learning says:

“The last few years have been very tough for young people, especially those in the midst of their secondary education.  However, anyone who has spent time with this generation will be familiar with their resilience and their ability to overcome the challenges they’ve faced.  Huge congratulations to our Year 11 students as their hard work and commitment finally pays off.”

“In Oasis we believe the real purpose of education is to develop a young person’s character and competence, so that they are prepared for their next step which they can take with confidence.  Our students are leaving us to take up places at colleges where they can follow their passions, and ultimately lead fulfilling lives.  I am proud of them all.”

Across the country many students achieved exceptional results.

At Oasis Academy Enfield Yazmin secured 7 Grade 9’s in English, Maths, Science and Religious studies.  She will be going on to London Academy of Excellence to study Biology, Chemistry and English A-levels.

Yazmin told us: “I am incredibly proud of myself, for my mocks I got a 4 and I have walked away with 9’s and an 8.”

At Oasis Academy Sholing in Southampton, the Pallot triplets, Piper, Abby and Jesse achieved 19 grade 9’s between them! Jesse and Piper are moving on to Richard Taunton College to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths A-Levels, whilst Abby is going on to Barton Peveril to study Biology, Chemistry and Maths.

At Oasis Academy Oldham there were big smiles as students walked away with some of the highest possible grades including Aysha who achieved 9,9,9,9,9,9,9 D*2 and Madina who scored 9 9 9 9 9 9 8 7 D*2.

Principal Marie Dillon commented saying: “Congratulations to our Year 11 students!  They have all worked so hard in difficult circumstances, showing a real commitment to their studies”

“Today is a day for our young people to enjoy their success, but just a word of thanks to our teachers and staff team who help our students every day, enabling them to do their very best.”

Cameron at Oasis Academy Immingham is thrilled with his outstanding set of results. He said: “I am ecstatic with what I have achieved, the teachers also deserve so much praise for everything they have done."

He achieved the top grade 9 in English language, grade 8 in History with another 7 results all at grade 6 or higher, and he is going to Franklin College to study Art, Ancient History, Geography and English Literature.

At Oasis Academy Coulsdon Jasmine achieved an impressive six Grads 9s, four Grade 8s and a grade 7 and will now be studying her A Levels at Reigate College.

She told us that: “I am so pleased and in shock. I wasn’t sure what to expect to be honest as the lead up to our exams was a bit different to what previous years would have had, but this is fantastic, I couldn’t be happier.”

At Oasis Academy Brislington, with three grade 9s, five grade 8s and one grade 5, Eve was one of the academy’s top achievers. She is going on to study A Level maths, biology, and chemistry at Richmond Upon Thames College.

Principal Mr Peter Knight said: “We are extremely proud of all our Year 11 students who received their results today. The post-16 courses our young people choose are varied and we are thrilled their grades will allow them to access the next stage in their education or training. We wish them the best of luck.”
