Oasis Academy Temple Quarter is celebrating this term, following a positive Ofsted report that praises the academy’s robust culture, ambitious curriculum and the excellent attitudes shown by pupils across the academy.

Inspectors judged the academy to be meeting the ‘Expected Standard’ in all areas. The report highlighted the progress made since the academy opened in 2023 and the early foundations now in place as the academy continues to grow.

In the report, Inspectors noted that students “develop their knowledge across subjects and can explain what they know clearly and confidently”, with students in Years 7–9 achieving broadly in line with national expectations in reading and mathematics. Teachers were praised for identifying gaps in learning quickly and supporting students effectively, ensuring they are well prepared for future study. The curriculum was described as “well planned and adapted to meet pupils’ needs”, with staff using consistent teaching strategies that help pupils learn with confidence.

Behaviour, attendance and the wider school culture were highlighted as real strengths. Ofsted recognised the “highly effective routines” that help the academy run smoothly, the positive relationships between students and staff, and the academy’s firm stance on tackling any incidents of bullying or derogatory language. Attendance in the academy’s first two years was above national averages, including for disadvantaged students and those with SEND.

The report also praises the academy’s clear commitment to inclusion and pastoral care. Inspectors highlighted the effective support in place for students with SEND, the tailored interventions offered through the new ‘Enrich’ department, and a dedicated focus on emotional and mental health needs. Leaders were commended for their determination to remove barriers to learning and for working closely with external partners to support pupils in challenging circumstances.

Oasis Academy Temple Quarter’s personal development programme was also cited to ‘help pupils to develop character and teamwork skills’, with students benefiting from a rich programme of clubs, cultural experiences and opportunities through the academy’s ‘Choices’ provision. The report states that students “show respect, confidence and positive attitudes” and that the academy’s values of compassion, curiosity and confidence are clearly lived out in daily life.

Inspectors also recognised that leaders have actively focused on a ‘strong culture’ and have guided the academy through its early years. The report praised leaders’ “imagination and determination” in establishing a new school, building staff capacity and creating a positive, ambitious culture for students of all backgrounds.

Richard James, Principal of Oasis Academy Temple Quarter said:

“We are proud of this Ofsted report and the recognition it gives to our students, staff and families.”

“To receive positive feedback at such an early stage in our academy’s journey is a testament to the hard work, belief and commitment of our whole community. Our students are thriving, our curriculum is something to be proud of, and our values are lived out every day.”

“We are excited to continue building on these foundations and ensuring every child receives the excellent education they deserve.”

Looking ahead, the academy is preparing to launch its first Key Stage 4 offer next term, introducing a broad range of subjects and qualifications delivered on the evolving Spring Street site.

Working closely with the Department for Education and project partners, leaders are on track to open additional specialist classrooms in September 2026, ensuring students benefit from high-quality facilities ahead of the move to the permanent Silverthorne Lane campus.

The academy will be welcoming current and prospective families for tours as it enters this next stage of growth. All information will be published on the academy website.
