As the temperature drops and the cost of living reaches a high, one community-centred organisation is keeping children warm with free onesies.

Oasis Hub South Grimsby is providing every child at Oasis Academy Nunsthorpe and Oasis Academy Wintringham, in Grimsby, with a warm onesie or Oodie jumper this winter. The Hub sourced funding to provide over 1300 fleece-lined items for children of all ages, from 4 through to 16.

Michelle Donner, Hub Leader, said “Our aim is to help every child in both academies stay warm this winter, especially when so many families are struggling with the rising costs of living. We just wanted to do something tangible and make a difference to our community

This is just one part of the Hub’s support offer this winter. Over the last few months they been preparing by organising ‘living rooms’ in community spaces such as churches, community halls or at the academies. These are literal warm places offering friendship, refuge and activities for the whole family, part of the national Oasis ‘Operation Warm Welcome’ campaign.

The Oasis Hub South Grimsby exists to offer opportunities and services to support the Grimsby community through a local food pantry, parental support, youth services and volunteering opportunities.
