On Wednesday 27th March, Oasis Academy Daventry Road and Oasis Academy Temple Quarter in Bristol, hosted visits from Founder of Oasis, Rev. Steve Chalke to celebrate the new schools opened in September, and personally welcome them into the Oasis family.

During assemblies at both academies, Steve captivated students and staff with his story that inspired him as a young boy to want to open a school, hospital, and home for people where everyone mattered. Steve shared how a negative experience for him was turned into something positive and led to the first Oasis housing project opening in Peckham in 1990.

The assemblies encouraged students to take ownership of their school and actively contribute to their success.

Students were invited to meet Steve over refreshments, where they eagerly asked him questions and shared their experiences of secondary school so far.

Students from both academies asked thoughtful questions and were engaged in what Steve had to say throughout their conversation with him.

Head of School at Oasis Academy Temple Quarter, Richard James, and Head of School at Oasis Academy Daventry Road, Simon Shaw, gave Steve tours of their academies, highlighting the exceptional teaching being delivered whilst in their temporary buildings. The academies' permanent buildings are forecasted to open in 2026.

Steve’s visit marked a significant moment for both academies, welcoming the whole school community into the Oasis family, sharing the Oasis ethos, and inspiring everyone to find their purpose.
