Work is set to begin on creating a new £850,000 extension building at a Worcestershire primary school which will expand an already fantastic pre-school provision.

Happy Hearts Nursery and Early Explorers Pre-school, part of Oasis Academy Warndon, are thrilled that they will be able expand their provision from September after building work is due to commence on their new state of art facilities next month. Oasis Academy Warndon is judged to be a ‘good’ school, with enough evidence to suggest that they could be graded outstanding in a full Ofsted inspection.

The academy won a capital funding bid from the DfE in back in 2018 and have been working hard behind the scenes with AHR Building Consultancy to develop plans for a new pre-school building. The extension will house two large new classrooms and be able to accommodate an additional 50, 3 and 4 year old pre-school places. The new pre-school will link seamlessly with the current Happy Hearts Nursery and current Pre-School that is on site.

Suzanne Owen, Principal at Oasis Academy Warndon, commented on the works saying; “We are so excited about this extended provision that we are going to be able to offer local families. Our current provision is excellent, but we know that parents require flexibility and this is going to allow us to offer that.”

“Both Happy Hearts and Early Explorers focus is on providing an excellent education to our children, by learning through play and preparing them for their eventual transition to school. Children who attend our academy thrive and we are delighted to be able to offer this opportunity to even more families.”

With the provision the school will now be able to offer 32 places for 2 year olds in their Happy Hearts Nursery and 90, 3 and 4 year old places in Early Explorers Pre-School. The provision will be led by an experienced Early Years Teacher and overseen by the academy senior leadership team, giving children high quality education from an early age, preparing them for the transition to school life.

Jamie Wildgoose, Associate Director at AHR Developers, said; “We’re excited to be progressing to the construction phase of works with Oasis Academy Warndon to provide two new much needed nursery classrooms. The new facilities will be a great asset to Oasis Warndon and the local community when completed.”

“The new parts of the building will provide two spacious classrooms specifically designed for 3-year old children with continuous access to open and sheltered external areas.”

Not only will this new provision allow for additional places, it also enables the academy to provide nursery and pre-school all year round, from 7:30am until 6:00pm in the evening, allowing full flexibility for families.
