A group of Year 6 pupils had the incredible opportunity to visit the English Institute of Sport (EIS) in Sheffield, a world-class training facility for elite athletes, including Olympic and Paralympic teams.

The event which was organised by Oasis Academy Henderson Avenue’s PE Lead Ben Henderson and Get Ahead Partnership, gave the pupils a hands-on experience of what it's like to train at a high-performance centre, participating in activities such as boxing, badminton, and athletics.

The day was capped off with an inspiring tour of the facility, where the pupils had the chance to watch members of the Paralympic GB Table Tennis Team train, witnessing firsthand the dedication and skill of these elite athletes.

Hannah Moore, Assistant Principal & Phonics Lead at Oasis Academy Henderson Avenue, shared her thoughts on the visit: “It’s so important for our students to see what they can achieve and to have the chance to meet role models in action. The experience at the English Institute of Sport was not only educational but also truly motivating. I hope it sparks a lifelong passion for sports and fitness in our pupils, encouraging them to dream big and aim high.”
