6 family fun activities for the Easter break
6 family fun activities for the Easter break

As the Easter break approaches and Spring Term 2 comes to a close, you may be looking for some activities to do with your family during the break. Well look no further, as we’ve got some great ideas for you (both Easter themed and non!)

1.       Break out a jigsaw puzzle for the whole family to do. This can be a great activity to last the afternoon (sometimes more!) where everyone can get involved. If you don’t have any to hand, or have already done the ones on your shelves, most local charity shops will sell jigsaw puzzles cheaply. Just make sure you do it on a table you don’t need later or put it on a cloth you can move easily if you need to!

2.       Organise an Easter scavenger hunt! It’s always fun to do an Easter egg hunt, but why not put cryptic clues at each point that helps your children to think about where the next egg might be hidden. It’s more challenging and can bring a real sense of accomplishment.

3.       Decorating eggs (these can be Easter themed or not). Hand decorated eggs can be something all ages can get involved in. Start by emptying the egg (without breaking it if you can!), you can use a safety pin to puncture each end, and then widen the bottom with a cocktail stick. Hold the egg over a clean bowl and gently blow through the top hole to relieve the egg of its content. The empty shell can now go in a bowl of warm soapy water – try to thoroughly clean this inside and out. Leave the shell to drain and then paint with acrylics or poster paints!

4.       Do some baking together! Why not make some brownies, cupcakes, fairy cakes or biscuits with some fun decorating ideas.

5.       Have a board game evening. Whether you’re playing Monopoly, Uno or the Game of Life a board game evening can be a great way to spend quality time together. Get a bowl of popcorn out or some healthy snacks and settle in for the evening.

6.       Reminisce with old photos and videos. Why not take some time out over the holidays to get the photo albums out and share some stories with your children about your family. You might have some funny anecdotes from when you were young, or be able to let them know what their grandparents did for work etc.
