The Oasis Curriculum 2.0: exciting changes to our primary curriculum!

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of The Oasis Curriculum 2.0 this September - a bold step forward in how our primary academies teach, learn, and grow together. Grounded in research, shaped by feedback, and powered by innovation, these updates are designed to deepen learning, reduce teacher workload, and give every child the tools to thrive in a rapidly changing world.

Why Curriculum 2.0?

Over the past few years, Oasis has been on a transformative journey through our Horizons Project - equipping every child with a digital device and embedding a Pedagogy-First (PedTech) approach across our academies.

We’ve learned a lot along the way, and Curriculum 2.0 reflects those lessons: from avoiding approaches that kept us in the past, to embracing AI-powered assessment, generative learning theory, and student agency.

What’s New?

1. Smarter Curriculum Design

  • Core concepts refined: We’ve clarified the essential knowledge students need, making it easier for teachers to focus on what matters most.

  • Long-term & unit plans: Replacing old knowledge maps, our new plans offer clear learning journeys, detailed lesson summaries, and flexible scaffolds.

  • Cross-curricular connections: Subjects are no longer taught in silos – curriculums will collaborate so students can make meaningful links across disciplines, deepening understanding and retention.

2. Digital Innovation with Purpose

  • PedTech in action: Tools like ‘Explain Everything’ and ‘Showbie’ are now central to lesson delivery, modelling, and feedback - chosen not for novelty, but for how they enhance learning.

  • AI-enhanced assessment: From Smartgrade to StudyHall AI and Magma Maths, we’re using intelligent tools to provide real-time feedback, reduce marking time, and personalise learning.

  • Data-driven insights: We’re building systems that allow teachers and leaders to learn from patterns in student work - supporting better decisions and more targeted teaching.

3. Deeper, More Connected Learning

  • Generative learning theory: Students will be taught how to make connections between new and prior knowledge, using tools like cognitive mapping and multimedia representation.

  • Student voice & choice: With flexible tools and formats, children can now express their learning in ways that suit them - whether through timelines, voice notes, or interactive visuals.

4. New Subject Groupings

  • Personal development: PSHE and RE are now part of a broader curriculum strand focused on character, community, and well-being - supported by tools like YouHQ.

  • Music as a standalone subject: Music will now have dedicated time and space, allowing students to fully explore and develop their musical passions and talents.

Training for Impact

To ensure a smooth transition, we’ve delivered extensive training across the trust, featuring:

  • Leadership Strategy Days to shape and refine the vision.

  • Academy-led CPD tailored to local needs.

  • On-demand digital training so staff can learn at their own pace.

We’ve also worked closely with national experts and edtech pioneers - like Daisy Christodoulou, Sofia Fenichell, and Jacob Woolcock - to ensure our approach is both evidence-informed and future-ready.

Looking Ahead

The Oasis Curriculum 2.0 is more than a set of documents - it’s a mindset. It’s about putting learning first, using technology intentionally, and preparing our students not just for tests and exams, but for life.

As we move into this next chapter, we remain committed to our core values of character, competence, and community. We believe this curriculum will not only raise academic outcomes but also spark curiosity, creativity, and confidence in every learner.
